I can’t believe a full week passed since my last blog post. Boy did it go quickly! I’m only going to do a brief recap. There are pics up on IG and my author FB page for each day and I’ll be photo dumping to my personal FB page soon from pics throughout the entire trip.
So last we left off we had just arrived in Houston and kicked off RAM. Romance Author Mastermind was an intense conference. I have soooo many takeaways and already posted a very brief post on this. I’m sure there will be more to come.
While I was in conference for three days, the girls lived in the hotel room, literally. I don’t think the left the room even once. They learned such life lessons as how to order food through Uber Eats and similar such programs. And do-it-yourself spa nights.

On Sunday after the conference ended I dragged them out to at least experience a tiny bit of Houston which only really included food and shopping, but that’s okay.

Day 17 we said goodbye to Houston and made the 6 1/2 hour trek to Lawton, OK. We stopped to have dinner with my cousin Lisa in Burleson, TX at Mexican Inn.
Day 18 I got to spend the day with the fabulous Logan Keys and her friends (who are now my friends too!) Logan is a great friend, fellow author, and one of my kickass awesome cover designers. She did my Under a Harvest Moon cover as well as all my ARC Shifter books.

Day 19 we knew we wanted to do a little something more in Oklahoma, so we set out to find buffalo. Never did find them, but we did find the adorable little town of Medicine Park, the Holy City, Witchita Mountains Wildlife Refuge where we saw lots of longhorns and not one single buffalo.

Day 20. Arkansas. I guess I should mention that I’ve been sick for the last 3 days, and now Katy is coming down with it. Mining in the rain probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do with a chest cold but it’s not like we’re in Arkansas everyday and the rain isnt letting up until Saturday.
So off to Crater of Diamonds State Park to mine for diamonds. We didn’t find any diamonds. Our best prospect turned out to be quartz instead. We found a lot of jasper and had a lot of fun though, even sloshing through a 37 acre mudpit!

From there we drove over to West Memphis, AR to stop for the night. We had dinner at Kelley’s Kickin Chicken. Thanks Mitch for making us feel so welcome and spoiling Katy with a free piece of strawberry shortcake. The food here was delicious, especially the fried fish. If you find yourself in the area someday, definitely check it out.
One more state to go!
