Small teaser…

“This is happening really fast.”
“I know.”
“I can feel the bond literally pulling me to you.”
“I know.”
“Are you going to fight it?” That’s what I needed to know. I had learned enough about Marie but especially in the last twenty-four hours to know that she would make a solid mate for me. We got along well, she was smart, beautiful, funny, caring, and protective.
I would be lying if the whole virgin thing wasn’t still weighing on me but seeing how responsive she had been to my touch made me believe that just maybe Damon had been on to something. I loved the idea of having her only to myself, but the pressure of making that first time perfect for her was a little overbearing. I was optimistic that once that was behind us, everything would be great.
I realized Marie had stopped and was staring at me while I had been considering my own question.“Are you going to fight it?” she asked.
“I asked you first.”
“Yeah, but then you kind of got lost in thought there. I mean I could force the answer out of you, but I’d rather just hear from you.”
I could sense she was a bit scared, maybe a little nervous, but I didn’t understand why.
“I’d like to see you try,” I told her teasingly, but it got the reverse reaction of what I was expecting. “Hey, I’m sorry. I was just teasing.
”She looked around and I could feel something was heavily weighing on her. My gut felt like someone had just kicked me.
“Are you really going to fight our bond?” I asked seriously.
She shrugged. “I don’t know. Can we talk about this somewhere else? Anywhere else?”
