This week I give you a snippet from iPromise, book 4 in my ARC Shifters series.

“I’m pretty sure those two could stay up all night quoting Twilight,” Chase complained, later that night.

He left the room and came back a few minutes later. He tossed me the dampener.

“Take your mate to bed so I can settle mine down and actually get some sleep. I’m exhausted. That pull-out couch was miserable to sleep on, dude. There’s a real bed upstairs waiting for me, but I know Jenna won’t budge until Tobi does, and if I just disappear I’ll hear crap about it later.”

“I don’t have to wait for either of you assholes. The alarm on the house is set. Archie has eyes on your monitor, just to be safe. I’m going to sleep like a baby tonight,” Grant said. “Good night.”

As he got up to leave, I looked down at the dampener in my hands. “You sure?” I asked.

When Chase nodded, I jumped up and walked over to Tobi. I didn’t need to be told twice. I was exhausted since we had been up practically all night, combined with the excitement of my meeting with Wilcott, then the stress of the bugs the Raglan had planted on Tobi’s car.

I froze mid-step.

“What’s wrong?” Chase asked.

“Hey Grant?” I hollered.

“Yeah, what now?” he asked peeking his head out of the downstairs bedroom.

“I know you cleared Tobi’s car for us, but did you think to clear mine before you drove it?”

He scowled at me. “What do you think I am, a rookie? Of course, I checked yours. Found another four there nearly identical in placements. Amateurs,” he muttered before closing the door behind him once again.

At least I would sleep better knowing that.

I walked up to Tobi without hesitating this time and picked her up, throwing her over my shoulder. “More nerd talk tomorrow. It’s bedtime.”
