Today is a random book choice with a random excerpt out of iPromise. This is book 4 in my ARC Shifter series, but like all my Paranormal Romance books, it can also be read as a standalone. mybook.to/ARC4

Jackson moved to stand in front of me and he took my face in his hands and forced me to look up at him. Begrudgingly I did, but only because he didn’t give me any other option. I was prepared for my wolf to go nuts with the physical intrusion but that didn’t happen. The moment my eyes locked with his, the world around us fell away and my wolf instantly calmed.

“Just breathe, Tobi. Is this your first time in the city?” he asked calmly.

I nodded.

“Shit. This is not good.  You picked an event this big to venture out to for the first time?”

I shrugged. “I didn’t know it was going to affect me like this.”

He leaned in closer, and for a second I thought he was going to kiss me. “Your wolf was right on the surface. Can you control her? We can’t risk you wolfing out in the middle of all these people,” he whispered.

“At home I don’t have to control her,” I tried to tell him. “But I’m dealing with it.”

I wanted to be mad at him, but I was far too scared he was right.

“Christ, you’re feral?”

“Do I look feral?” The look on his face told me my eyes were probably a little wild and I knew my wolf was close to the surface. I shook my head. “Don’t answer that. No, I am not,” I insisted. I had met feral wolves before, and I was not like them no matter what Jackson insinuated.

My temper flaring actually helped a ton. I was back in control and too pissed off at his accusations to be quite as affected by my overstimulating environment.
